WAKO Asia

About

WAKO Asia is the Asian Continental Federation in charge of all WAKO activities in ASIA.

 

After claiming recognition of the sport of Kickboxing by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) during its the General Assembly held on 9 September 2005 , WAKO Asia was granted recognition by OCA as the governing body in charge of the sport of Kickboxing in Asia.

Kickboxing In Asia

Shortly after  receiving recognition by OCA, the sport of Kickboxing, under direct supervision of WAKO Asia, was included in the 2007 Asian Indoor Games as a demonstration sport.

Subsequently, it was included as an official sport in the 2009 Asian Indoor Games (formerly called). Since it’s integration and recognition as an official sport by OCA, it has been included in the 2009 Asian Indoor games and the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Games.

Asian Kickboxing Confederation

By unanimous decision of the General Assembly held on 03 September 2016, the name of  the organization, has been changed to Asian Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO ASIA).

This was done in order to reflect the structure of the organization which is composed of various Asian National Federations/Organizations and to be in harmony with other Official Continental Federations such as African Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO AFRICA) and Panamerican Kickboxing Federation (WAKO PANAM).


The new logo was also approved by unanimous decision of the same General Assembly on 03 September 2016.
